"My name is Shawn Connolly. I live in San Francisco, California. I am a sponsored skateboarder and I also run a kids' program called SF Skate Club. Now I'm explaining how to do a 360 kick flip varial or a 360 flip or a triflip. Now the 360 kick flip is definitely a hard trick to do. It is going to take a lot of patience and when you are first starting out and you are a smaller person learning how to do this it is kind of a hard trick because there is a lot going on and you have to jump very high to be able to do it. So just like with any other flip kick don't get too frustrated at first and realize it is going to take a long time to learn how to do this trick. You are not just going to be able to learn it in one day. So what you are going to want to do is know how to do ollies and at least know how to do kick flips and shoveits. Now you are combining the entire three tricks and you are going to want to hit the tail, 360 kick flip and then have it come back and then you land on the board rolling in the same direction. So like I said there is a lot of time that it needs to go all the way around or there is a lot of force that needs to be put into the board to get it to do the entire motion and then land back and roll away. So what you are going to want to do is set up with your toe on the corner of the tail because you are going to want your back foot to do the 360 shoveit part and then the corner of your toe on the front of the board right behind the bolts because you are going to want that to do the ollieing and the kick flipping part of it to get it all the way around. Now you are going to have to jump a lot higher and you are going to have to have a lot more control than for most tricks because this trick is going around and kick flipping at the same time. Now you are going to want to set up for that trick, jump nice and high and give it the time that it needs to get all the way around. Now when you first learn how to 360 kick flip it is hard to do and roll away cleanly and straight but the more you do it the better you'll get at it. At first you might notice that it flips all the way around and stops somewhere on 270 degrees so it doesn't allow you to continue rolling. It flips and then stops. Maybe when you first start out you can learn how to land on the back two wheels to kind of fix it but the desired 360 kick flip is popped clean, all the way around and land on the board. Another thing that might help you is to lean a little more further forward than you think you do because the weight of this trick is usually centered after you do your ollie above the front set of wheels and this is how you do a 360 kick flip varial.
