"Hi. I'm Jyler Noviello, and I'm going to teach you how to know soccer positions and their roles. Generally in soccer, there's four defenders, four midfielders, two forwards, and a goalie. The defender's responsibility is to keep the ball from going in their goal. They generally stay on their own half of the field and just try to protect their goal. The midfielder's role is to link up with the defenders, get the ball to the forwards, and so they can score. And the forwards job is generally to get the ball and take it at goal and score. Not to say that forwards are the only ones who can score, obviously. Midfielders and defenders can also score goals, as well. Defenders will generally score goals off corner kicks. They all come up to attack the ball and score on their offensive corner kicks. Midfielders can score a number of different ways. The most common way for a midfielder to score would be free kicks. Free kicks are generally taken by most midfielders and are very dangerous scoring opportunities. Forwards usually score during the run of play and are usually passed the ball from midfielders or sometimes defenders, in order to shoot the ball and score. And that is the soccer positions and their roles."
