"Hello, my name is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg, from Miami Dog Training. In this clip we're going to talk about, how to introduce a new dog to your home. First thing you want to know is, or the first things you want to have, is supplies for when your dog gets there, you don't have to run out and get them. You want to get yourself two steel bowls, dog food, or puppy food, if it's a puppy. You want to pet proof the house, you want to try to make sure you take your plants off the floor, anything that you don't want the puppy or dog getting into, you want to remove. And also we want to get them, basically their own room, so we can introduce a crate, and the crate is going to serve as their bedroom for the remainder of the time when they're at your home. And you'll find after a while, they'll still just want to go in the crate on their own. One of the things you're going to want to do, is take your dog on a leash around with you, to different parts of the home, and let him smell things, let him sniff around, and get use to the scents, so they get familiar to him. Give them a nice place to sleep, somewhere soft, and that should help him adapt to his new surroundings. Dogs are survivors, so it's in their instinct to do so. This is Zephyr Clarke-Dolberg, and this has been, how to introduce a new dog to your home."
