"Hi I'm James with JNC home repair. Today I'm going to show you how to apply a corner bead. We are going to be using a metal type corner bead, the reason we are going to be using this stuff today as you can see on some corners they use a paper tape and paper tape on corners has a tendency to get tore up, anytime you are moving something around and you bump up against a corner or something, the dry wall is going to crack or crumble. When you are using a metal type corner bead, it's basically going to eliminate that. It's a little bit more durable. It will give you a nice straighter corner too after you've done the float work and after the texture is been applied, you'll actually see a nice actually straighter corner. But you can get a good idea of just how to apply the corner bead by this. And it will give you an idea of what the finished product is going to look like. Basically all you are going to need is you are going to need a section of corner bead. You are going to need some basic dry wall screws, usually they are applied with a number two Phillips and it's always a good to have a cordless drill. It's going to make it a lot easier to install it. Ok. First thing you want to do is take your corner bead, you can see the damage here from the paper tape, things have been brushing up against it. And what we are going to do is we are going to eliminate that. So what you do is you pull out your corner bead here, you make sure that it's good and flushed on both sides before you actually set the screws. And you always on a corner behind the dry wall there's always going to be a stud, there's always going to be a two by four back there somewhere. It's either going to be running this way or it's going to be running this way. So no matter which way you drill into the wall, you are actually going to hit wood. You are not just going to be running into the drywall. So actually what you want to do is you want to get it up there. You want to get it nice and flush and nice and tight on the corner. Put your screw in one of the holes, there's tons of holes on it to give you a lot of different places to be able to mount it. And then you just run your dry wall screw right in, just like so, go ahead and sink it in just a little bit. And that's going to give you an idea and then what you do is you are going to come around on the other side, make sure that it's still up in there nice and snug. Go ahead and run another screw on the other side. And that's how you apply a corner bead."
