"Hi, my name is Mike Sanders, and I'm going to tell you a little bit about how to duck dive your short board. I say short board because most people can't really duck dive a long board, they usually, what's called turtle, and that means turning your board upside down, grabbing hold of it, you know, oh God, and letting the wave break over you as you as you're upside down in the water. But it's a lot easier, it's a lot more useful, if you're on a short board to duck dive, you can, you know, once you get efficient at it you can get your speed up, you can get out to any break, go under any water, and not have to worry about it. It's all about, ah, weight transfer. What it comes down to is you're surfing on your board and you see a wave coming, you got to wait for it to break right in front of you, you really want it to be, you know, maybe three feet, you know, white water, if the lips coming down, you want it to be right in front of you. And as it's right there, you just got to paddle, keep your speed up, push your nose down with your arm, just like when you're doing a push up, you want to push it down, but, instead of standing you're going to pull yourself, use the water weight on top of the board to pull yourself under with the board. So. as you go under the wave breaks over your back, you'll feel it on your back, you'll feel it on your back, you'll feel the white water as you're under, then when you're coming through, after you feel the pass, I usually do a little knee kick up, get the nose up and that'll push you forward, it'll accelerate you out of the water just from the buoyancy of the board itself, and get you out past under the next wave. It's a really interesting wave to get out. That's pretty much how to duck dive a board."
