"Hi, I'm Charles with ATX Audio Video. We're an A/V company located here in Austin, Texas. We specialize in home theaters and home automation. Today, we're going to speak about installing your home theater system. And installing your home theater system first you should have a design. Your design would include display, speakers, components, and wiring schematics. Wiring your home theater system, there's a few basic wire types that you will need. I'll break these down into audio and video. Audio wires, there's three basic types of audio wires. There's standard RCA stereo which will be usually a red and white pair. Digital coaxial which is usually indicated with an orange. An optical audio which you'll recognize by the different tip on the wire. In wiring your home theater system, you'll need to run the correct speaker wires to the speaker locations. Front left, front right, center, surround left, and surround right will all need a minimum of sixteen gage speaker wire. You will also need wires for your video. Whether that may be for a projector, a flat screen, a rear projection TV, or even a tube TV. Mounting, you will have to mount the speakers either in wall, on wall, or they may be floor standing where no mounting is needed. The display can also be wall mounted, ceiling mounted, or on a floor stand. If you're going to use a projector you will need to mount a projector screen. Proper alignment of the screen in the projector lens is crucial in getting optimum picture quality. Next, you will need to connect the equipment. Connecting the equipment is fairly straight forward. The outputs of your DVD player, cable box, VCR, all called your sources. Your sources will all be outputs. All connections leading out of your sources will go into a main receiver. A receiver controls switching of the sources. Once everything is connected to the receiver, the video output will need to be sent to the display and the audio output to the speakers. Lastly, will be operation of your home theater system. It is highly recommended you have someone help you install or program a custom remote."
