"Hello, my name is David Brown. Today we are going to talk about how to prevent blisters during a marathon. Now blisters are everyone's worst enemy. We are running a marathon. We are on our feet. If you start getting blisters, and pain in your feet, it is not going to make running the marathon very much fun. There are very easy ways to prevent blisters. First and foremost, you want to look at wetness. You want to think about how to prevent your feet from getting wet and causing chaffing, literally to the point where you have injured your foot and a blister has formed. Now, managing wetness can be a couple of different ways. The first thing is looking at your type of footwear and your socks. You want to try to have footwear that fits you correctly and second of all, socks that are not made from cotton. And these kind of socks really help keep your feet drier to prevent them from chaffing, which prevents blisters from forming. now the other thing is your behavior during the run. Are you dumping water over your head? Are you getting hit by friends that have water on the course? This excess amount of water gets in your shoes. It does not matter what type of socks or shoes you are wearing, your feet are going to be wet and you are probably going to end up with blisters. Now, the other thing that you can try, especially if you are prone to blisters, is trying some sort of layer. And these layers can be petroleum jellies or some other type of lubricant such as Body Glide or things of this nature. But, at the end of the day, make sure your manage your wetness with the proper shoes, the proper socks, and looking at some sort of lubricating layer such as petroleum jelly to prevent blisters from happening on your feet."
