"Let's talk about determining heart rate in your dog or cat. The heart in the dog sits about mid-chest and you can feel it. If you put your hand over top of it, on either side, you'll feel a beat. Dogs vary on their heart rates. When they're - a small breed is going to have a higher heart rate than a larger breed. A large breed is about sixty to eighty beats per minute. A smaller breed is going to be about a hundred and twenty to a hundred and forty. Cats are about a hundred and forty to a hundred and fifty per minute. So what you can do is get them in a good position. Feel their heart rate. Count a beat for six seconds and multiply by ten or you can just count for sixty seconds."
