"Hi my name is Seann McWhorter, I'm the agency principal of Insure Right Insurance Agency located here in Lehi, Utah. Here today we are talking about insurance ins and outs. And specifically how to get health insurance when you are unemployed. Well the process for applying for health insurance when you are unemployed is no different then if you were employed. You are going to contact your health insurance agent or health insurance company and tell them that you'd like to apply for coverage. They'll provide you with an application that you need to complete. The information that will be asked of you would be your personal information and all of your family members. And a detailed history of your health, any health conditions you have. Including how many medications that you are currently or in the past are taking. Any accidents that you've had any diseases that you may have had or any other conditions , medical conditions that you may have had. Your application will be submitted to the insurance company and underwriter's will review this information and then usually within a couple of weeks we'll be able to offer you a coverage based on that information giving you the rate maybe as it was discussed with your agent or maybe different. If you had health insurance or health issues that made you a little higher risk for the insurance company they can turn around and offer, offer you coverage but maybe at a higher rate or worse case scenario they would decline the coverage."
