"My suggestion is never have a wedding outside in August in Texas. Hi, this is Kathie Millen, and I'm Vivian Miller, and we're with Austin Wedding Planners, and Elate Events, and today we're going to talk to you about how to pick your perfect wedding site. So think of the time of year. Very important, if you want an outdoor wedding. Kathy's exactly right, I got married in August, and even though it wasn't outdoor, it was hot. It's just hot in August in Texas. So if you want an outdoor wedding, the months...the perfect months for an outdoor wedding really, truly is October, and November, and part of September. First part of September's usually pretty hot, but toward the end it gets nice. And in the springtime, March and April....May, normally...first part of May, maybe. Yeah, first part of May, but May kind of turns a little rainy, so it's a little iffy...but when you're looking at...let me back up. Most brides want an outdoor wedding. They either want a church wedding, or the want an outdoor wedding. And maybe an indoor reception. Uh,huh. But when you look for these outdoor facilities, be sure and check to make sure they do have a rain back up plan. You know the old saying: wait a few minutes and the weather'll change. And that's...that's so true. (So true) I've been fortunate that as many years as I've done weddings, I've never had one rained out, but I've had a little sprinkle before it. You know. But that doesn't mean that I might not have the big flood. I've had one with the big flood, but it turned out great. (Yeah) But they did have a back-up plan. And I've had one bride that did not have a back up plan, and it rained for ten days prior to her wedding, so where they were going to get married was totally drenched. And that first week, the week of the wedding, they had to find another venue. It was...it was stressful. So, so keep that in mind, you know. Check and you make sure and ask questions. Another thing that you do when you go check some of these...these venues is, check to see what all is included. You know, tables and chairs could help on your budget. That's right. Linens some of 'em have. Linens, they also offer a lot of centerpieces. You know, see if you can use any of that stuff. See...you know, most brides truly don't know how many people are coming until about a month before their wedding. But, you know, if you have an idea, if you think that you're, you know, might possibly have two hundred and fifty, then look for a venue that's going to hold two hundred and fifty, you know. Don't....don't just look for one that'll hold two hundred, and then you have two hundred and fifty show up. I've had that happen where we've had to go into another venue at the last. And that venue sets the...the mood again, you know, if ...if you want something very formal, or if you want something more relaxed and casual. So... Or a Texas feel. It also has to do with your theme, too. So, this is Kathie Millen, and Vivian Miller, and have fun shopping."
