"Hi, I'm Ty Brown with dogbehavioronline.com. I'm here in Riverton, Utah today teaching you how to train a dog. The topic of today's discussion is teaching you how to train a dog in one day. Now I've had a lot of clients that are pressed for time. They've got busy work schedules and busy lives, and they want to train their dog in one day. Now what I always tell people is, "hey, we can teach a dog something very quickly. But in order for that dog to be trained, that's going to take some time." You can teach a dog in a matter of minutes how to sit, how to lie down, how to come when called, in a space of five or ten minutes, but there's a big difference between teaching and training. If we want to teach a dog something, that can be accomplished quickly. But training however, is something that takes time. And so what you want to do is you want to get on a course of action, whether it be teaching your dog how to come when called, teaching your dog how to walk on a loose leash, training your dog how to sit. Whatever the case might be, realize that you can teach the dog rather quickly. But if you want that dog to have a trained and a new behavior, it's going to take you some time and it's going to take a lot of practice and a lot of repetitions, it's going to take patience and it's going to take consistency on your part. And so can you train a dog in one day? Well yes, you can teach a lot, a dog a lot in one day, but in order for that dog to be trained, that's going to take you a little bit of time."
