How to Train a Husky Dog

"Hi I'm Ty Brown with dogbehavioronline.com. I'm here in Riverton, Utah today teaching you how to train a dog. The topic of today's discussion is teaching you how to train a Husky. Now Huskies have a couple different issues that make them sometimes a little bit more of a challenge to train than other breeds of dogs. Huskies can be a little bit on the stubborn side and they could also be on the destructive side. To combat the destructive side, you really should do some crate training from a young age. Teach the, teach the Husky from a young age, from the time he's a puppy that the crate is a good place to be. Now when you're gone out of the house use the crate as a means so that he can be supervised and not be destroying your yard or eating your couch. Once he gets older and once he learns the rules of the house then you can wean him off the use of the crate. But at a beginning stage, you really want to use the crate a lot. Now Huskies can also be stubborn and so you really need to be very firm but fair with the dog. No harshness, as Huskies can kind of react inappropriately to harshness and so you want to be firm but also at the same time be very fair with that dog. Be very consistent, if the dog is stubborn, you have to be consistent in order to show the dog that every command you give, that you're going to back it up, and at the same time with your Husky, you want to start training from young age. Because they can be stubborn and dominant, you want to start from the time you bring that Husky home, teaching him the rules and teaching him the boundaries of your home so that when he gets older he doesn't question them, and that's how you can train a Husky dog."
