"Hi I'm Ty Brown with dogbehavioronline.com today we're here in Riverton, Utah talking about how to train a dog. The topic for today is how to train a dominant dog. Now there's nothing wrong with a dominant dog as long as he's submissive to his owners, and so there's number key, number of key topics for how to achieve that. In order to teach your dog, to teach your dominant dog to be respectful of you make sure that you're firm but fair. Don't be abusive with a dog like this, make sure that you're, set expectations that are reasonable and stick to them. If you ask your dog to do something, make sure that you see it through. There's a couple of other key tips for training a dominant dog. Number one, don't allow that dog on the furniture or on the bed. Make sure also that you eat before the dog as in a pack structure the head dog, or the head, the leader of that pack is going to eat first. Also make sure that when you're walking through the door, that you're the one that goes first. In any sort of pack structure, the one that's in charge goes first, and so make sure that's you. Also make sure that when you're training your dominant dog that when you take him for a walk, that you don't allow him to pull, that you make sure that he walks by your side. In any sort of structure, the one that's the leader is going to set the course and the leader is going to say where they're going. Make sure that your dog isn't the one setting the course, and so bey following these key points, you can effectively train your dominant dog."
