"Hi, I'm Ty Brown with dogbehavioronline.com. We're here in Riverton, Utah today talking about how to train a dog. The topic of today is how to train a dog to roll over on command. Now teaching a dog to roll over on command can be a lot of fun for both you and the dog. It's a lot of fun to teach a dog tricks because it builds and promotes a good relationship with you and your dog. Now the way to do it is to start off by grabbing your dog's paw so that you can kind of keep him in one spot. Now what I like to do is I like to make a hand signal like this. And I like to make it kind of fun. The command that I use is, "bang". Such as later when the dog is taught this command, I can say, "bang", the dog rolls over on his back and it's a lot of fun for everybody. And so what I do is I first hold the dog's paw and then I give the command, "bang", and I roll the dog over. Good boy. Good boy. And reward him with a nice belly rub when he's done and then bring him back up to his side, come on. Bring him back up and do it over and over. Bang. Good boy. Good boy. And just rub him on his belly every time that he does it. And every time you say, "bang", just kind of knock him over a little bit with your hand signal so that he gets on his back and so that you could rub his belly. Now if you do this over and over and over, and over the course of time, soon the dog starts to realize, "hey, every time he says bang, if I just get on my back, I get a belly rub." And so if you do this with consistency, you'll train your dog how to roll over on command."
