Now there's several key points that you're going to want to look for when you're looking to train a Lab to hunt. The first thing is to choose a dog that comes from hunting lines. Now the best way to do that is to talk with the Breeder. Does the mother hunt? Does the father hunt? Look and see how well they hunt. Hunting is something that is both natural and trained, and so the first thing you want to do is find a dog that has natural abilities and drives for hunting. The second thing you want to do is choose the proper puppy from the litter, that is going to be able to hunt. Find a dog that has a lot of drive,and by that I mean, he likes to chase, he's confident, he's bold, he likes to, he likes to go after things. Now you're going to want to start training your dog from a young age how to hunt. There's many different training articles and training aids that you can, that you can purchase, that you can teach your dog to fetch. Throw them out, keep the dog on a long line, as he fetches them, bring him back in. Get him used to that, that action of retrieving something and brining it back to you.
