Series Summary

Massage therapy is a practice with a multiplicity of benefits. Whether it’s a quick rubdown or a full-body treatment, the human touch has practical applications for promoting both physical and emotional well-being. Massage is performed with the use of motion, pressure, tension and vibration on certain areas of the body such as painful or stressed muscles and joints. This allows a release of tension and a return to a homeostatic condition. Beyond general stress relief, massage encourages physical and emotional healing by improving circulation. When targeted to relieve specific symptoms such as sinus congestion in children, massage therapy can be an effective cure. In this free video on massage therapy, a massage expert demonstrates how to treat sinus congestion with massage techniques. She explains how to prepare a child for massage by making them as comfortable and relaxed as possible, then demonstrates massage on various areas of the head and face, including the eye sockets, nose and cheeks. Though this technique is not effective for curing a fever, it can relieve allergy or cold symptoms.

"Hi, my name is Tina Allen, and today, my friend Riley and I, are going to show you how to perform some massage therapy, to help a child that may be experiencing sinus congestion, and sinuses may have congestion, due to a number of different things. It could be from a common cold, allergies. There's lots of different reasons why children, and adults as well, may experience sinus congestion, and I know today, Riley you said that that you have a little bit of allergies? How is your nose and everything feeling? Good, but mostly all itchy. Itchy, ok, so you have a little bit of congestion? Is it hard to breath? No. Not really? oh good, ok so you must have just a little bit of allergies, but we're going to go ahead, and do some massage today, to show you how, if a child is experiencing sinus congestion, how you might be able to help alleviate some of those symptoms that are associated with it. This is a natural thing that you can do, and you don't need a lot of tools to be able to do it. It's something that you can just do a little bit at a time, taking a few minutes of your day, to provide massage therapy, to help alleviate some of these symptoms."
