"Hello I'm John Riedling and today I'm going to talk to you about how to throw a split-finger fastball. The split-finger fastball is just a fastball and all you're doing is you're splitting your fingers. Just like that. On your split-finger fastball you want to have a loose wrist. You want to finish, and you got to finish out front. That will encourage a very good split-finger fastball. A split-finger fastball, what a split-finger fastball does, it's a fastball but it tumbles late and it changes speed, and it'll get hitters to swing on top of it. You'll see some very good hitters who will swing at the ball in the dirt at a late breaking, tumbling, split-finger fastball. So again, all it is is a fastball and you got a split-fingered grip and you have a loose wrist, and it just a fastball. You let the grip, the split's going to make that work. And now I'm going to demonstrate how to throw a split-fingered fastball. And that's how you throw a split-fingered fastball."
