"Hi, my name is Jamie Cevallas we're going to be discussing earned run average today. And earned run average is probably the best way to determine how effective a pitcher is, and I do suggest coaches keep their pitchers earned run averages on the team. It is the best method that we have to find out how effective a pitcher is. So here's what it is. It's earned runs ok, and that does not include the runs that are caused by errors. Ok, it's just the earned runs divided by your innings pitched. Now if your innings pitched are, lets say three innings and then you had two outs that inning that would be three innings and two thirds so it would be three point six six. So your would put three point six six divided into your earned runs. Multiply that by nine and you have your earned run average."
