"Hi my name is Jamie Cevellas and I'm going to be discussing how to hit a baseball. And it is one of the hardest things to do in sports. So it does take some attention and some care. And the most important thing is to know that to hit a baseball primarily we use our core muscles. Which are our legs our torso our shoulders, to hit the baseball. Those are the muscles that are the strongest and if you incorporate those muscles you are going to produce the most power. The arms and the hands and the bat just kind of goes along for the ride. So if I tell you that and you know that just by knowing that you can kind of figure out that the swing is more of a whip action then it is a forced movement. So the swing is again it's done by the big muscles, most important thing and secondly, how do you make the arms go for, go along for the ride. Well in the swing, in order to make yourself able to hit the ball, squarely most often, you do want your arms to drop on plane with the ball. This is what I call beginning the swing dropping into the slot position. It's just like in golf or any other sport even tennis. When they begin the swing, their arm drops down just like this. It's going to be a movement that you feel right here in the rotator cuff. So if you throw a baseball the same movement, just like a pitcher does, brings the arm up here and then it comes down here. Alright I see a lot of players make it very hard on themselves by coming right through the chest area and directly to the ball. We were taught this when we were younger and it's now becoming something that is obviously not the correct thing to do. The correct way again is to drop the arm down by the side and drop the bat on the plane with the ball, as early as you possibly can. This will enhance your ability to make contact with the ball and make contact with a lot of power. So drop into the slot position, use your big muscles to swing the bat and those two things I think are the best pieces of advise I would give if I only had three minutes to do it. Thank you my name is Jamie Cevallas and I am the swing mechanic."
