"Hi my name is Jamie Cevallas I'm going to be discussing slugging percentage and the importance of slugging percentage as well as how to calculate slugging percentage. And slugging percentages is important, probably the second most important offensive stat that we can have next to on base plus slugging. Which is the most important statistic. Slugging percentage is a measurement of a player's power. I like to put my players with the highest slugging percentage in the three, four, and five positions in the line up. And here is how I calculate, how you calculate sluggish percentage. It's your singles plus two times your doubles so you give your doubles two points is what you are doing, you are giving yourself a point for each bag that you get. So it's singles plus two times your doubles plus three times your triples plus four times your home runs. And that as you may recognize is your total bases calculations. Divide that by your at bats and that's slugging percentage. I do recommend that coaches or players keep their slugging percentages and if you need to build a little bit more power in your swing you will definitely know by calculating your slugging percentage and comparing it to your peers."
