"Hi my name is Jamie Cevallas today I'm going to be discussing the statistic of total bases. And why would you want to use total bases as a statistic well, if you are playing foul ball, or if you have the time to keep your own statistics, I do recommend that you keep statistics like total basis. Keep statistics like on base percentage and slugging percentage. Ok now total bases is simply your singles, plus two times your doubles plus three times your triples and four times your home runs. Ok that total is your total bases. Now this is also a part of the total slugging percentage calculations. Ok so if you put this over your total number of at bats, ok that equals your slugging percentage. Ok slugging percentage is very important as far as knowing where a batter should be in the lineup. You always want the players with the highest slugging percentage to be around your three, four and five hitters. And this again is something I recommend that players keep for themselves to know exactly where they are and where they want to go."
