How to Buy a Garden Hose

"I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. I want to tell you about how to buy a garden hose, or what hoses are available. Two most common sizes are half inch, and five eights. In my opinion the five eights inch hose is your best bet of the two of them. The rubber hose is probably your better bet since the rubber hose will not kink up nearly as bad as a plastic or other material made hose. Looking at your yard, determine the length of hose based on yard size and maneuverability. The best thing to do is get a few more feet than what you actually need to allow for easy movement throughout the yard and to also help keep it from crimping up on you. A rubber hose, five eighths inch is by far your best bet. As we look at these two sizes, this one here is a five eighths hose, this older model is a half inch, and you hopefully can see the difference in the two. Again, your best bet is a five eighths rubber hose and longer footage. Hoses come usually in fifty foot increments, so two fifty foot sections at a hundred feet would work just fine. The five eighths again, carries the water pressure better and does a better job for you."
