"Hi, I'm James, with JNC Home Repair. Today, I'm going to show you how to replace caulking on the outside of your house. Some basic tools you're going to need for this repair or this job. You're going to need caulk. You're going to need a caulk gun. You're actually going to need a 5-in-1 tool, or some kind of scraper, and you're also going to need a razor knife. The first thing you want to do, is wherever your seam is, or wherever you want to replace the caulking, if there's some leftover caulk there, you want to dig it out, or you want to scrape it out. A good tool for this, is your razor knife. You can actually take the razor knife, and actually cut some of that stuff out, and it makes it a lot easier when you put your new caulk in. It makes it adhere, and it makes it stick a lot better. Instead of if you got a bunch of little bitty clumps here and there, it won't stick very well, and it won't seal very well, so basically, you want to take your razor knife. You want to score it. You want to dig it out, and get as much of that old caulk out as possible. Once you've used your razor knife, you can use your scraper, your 5-in-1, and actually, dig the rest of it out, what you can. You don't have to get it all, but you just want to get the loose stuff. The stuff that's cracked, broken. You just want to get that stuff out of the way. Once you've done that, basically what you do, is you install your caulk tube in your caulk gun. To actually get a good caulking line, what you want to do, is you want to cut your tip at a forty five degree angle, and what that does, is when you're actually installing your caulk, it will actually fit right in the groove. It just makes it a lot easier to actually install it, so what you want to do, is you just want to cut this tip, just like this, and cut it at a forty five degree angle, just like that. You want to put a little bit of an angle to it, and once you're ready to caulk. You're ready to go. Squeeze your tube. Squeeze your handle, until your caulk comes out, and actually push your little button here, to keep it from leaking out all over the place. Once you're at that point, you're ready to install your caulk."
