"Hey, this is Coach Rudy, Big Ten alumni. Listen, a lot of the stuff we're going to cover today, I developed an acronym for it: CODE. I'm not the first guy to do it, and it's probably not even something that I thought of. But I use it when I coach. C; take the coaching, right. Don't be an expert. Even as a coach, the best coaches need coaches, right. As a player, take the coaching. Don't know everything. The second thing is be prepared for the opportunity, right. That's what this is all about. The opportunity will present itself. Be prepared. Dedication, that's what desire and work ethic is all about. Dedication, energy level, and enthusiasm. Make that happen. Now let's talk about the Power Off Tackle. Strong right side. Here's what happens: the tight end adjusts, goes into the backfield, becomes the wing blocker. So you've got the fullback directly behind the quarterback. You've got the tight end three yards away from the fullback and the running back directly behind the fullback. What happens is the receiver comes down into what we call a crash position and now is a reach blocker, forcing the outside defender to go outside, creating a gap in the 6 hole, which is off tackle. So the blocking is: reach from the end and a reach from the tackle to create the 6. The tight end will come and either meet the linebacker or the defensive end, depending on the defensive scheme. The fullback will come through the 6 whole and probably meet the "Will" linebacker there. And the tailback will go through the hole; breaking into the second layer of what we call, where the linebackers live is level 2; and be looking to go either up towards the goalpost or out up the sideline. That's the Power Off Tackle. It works well in a short yardage situation."
