"Hey, I'm Mike Nolan. Today I'm going to show you how to throw a cutter. The cutter is a pitch that's also known as a cut fast ball. Whenever throwing this pitch, it is a pitch that is very similar to a fast ball but has late movement on it. When throwing the pitch you need to grip the ball in the correct fashion. Rather than throwing a forward seam fast ball, you're going to grip the ball to the side of the horseshoe. As the ball makes the horseshoe you will move your fingers, your middle finger primarily, to the outside seam of the horseshoe. This will allow you to increase the amount of sideways spin on the ball. And give you a cutting action on what used to be a fast ball. I'm now going to demonstrate to you how to throw a cutter. And that's how you throw a cutter."
