"This is financial adviser, Patrick Munro, discussing, what is a family of mutual funds? The term family, when applied to financial instruments, sounds unusual, although many times it's not. Mutual fund companies use that word, when they're referring to the type of mutual funds, within a sector, and a sector could be, well let's just say, telecommunications, and there's various funds that are within the Telco brand. Also mining or precious metals, could be within a certain sector, as well. Sector sometimes sounds impersonal, so companies will call them fund families, and various organizations, banks, credit unions, and brokers, offer these particular sector, or family flavored mutual funds, and it's more of a marketing ploy, to allow the consumer to better understand, the products offered by these institutions. This is Patrick Munro, discussing the family of mutual funds."
