"When you're working with crochet you have to acquaint yourself with the symbols used to represent the different stitches, crochet stitches. And, it's very simple to read a crochet chart. You have a circle for the chain stitch and along side I've put what the abbreviation would be. So, this would be reduced to this. So you'd have chain or furl. A slip stitch is basically a period and slip stitch would be abbreviated that way. A single crochet is just a small plus sign. Single crochet is abbreviated SC. Half double is a T. Half double is abbreviated HDC. Double crochet is that T with one hash mark through it. Double crochet is abbreviated DC. Treble crochet is that T with two hash marks. Treble crochet is abbreviated TR. Double triple crochet is the T with three hash marks and that's DTR. And then here is some other common abbreviations you'll see. Chain space will be the space created by a number of chains like we did with the button hole. LP for loops. REP for repeat. Rounds, RNDS for rounds. SK for skip, and SP for space. And those are the most common crochet abbreviations."
