"With the turning chain there's twp things to be aware of. For starters when you're knitting, when you're; excuse me when you're crocheting a single crochet the turning chain is not your first stitch. So there is my turning chain and I'm going to go right into the stitch below that single crochet, and go across and when you get to the end of the row you're not going to be working into the turning chain of the single crochet. It's just going to be too squished up to get to. Now if I we're going to do a half double or any other tall stitch, here for the double I made my chain 2. And the half double or anything taller that is my first stitch so I'm not going to go into the stitch below that half double, I'll go into the stitch next to it and work across. And then for this stitch I am going to work the turning chain of the previous row. I would work into that last stitch."
