"When you are done putting on as many stitches as you need on your chain you are ready to begin working into your foundation chain to start your project. You want to count your chains. You are not going to count the first stitch on the chain on the hook or the slip knot and you are going to count the V's so it is one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. So then when you are ready to work into your foundation chain you are just going to go into each chain, wrap the yarn and bring it through and this is a single crochet and you are just going to go into each chain in your foundation chain to work it across. This is just like the cast on edge in knotting. I like to hold the base of the foundation chain to get a little more leverage."
