"Crochet hooks can be made out of many different materials. You can have lucite crochet hooks, bamboo crochet hooks that have a pad on them, different types of metal crochet hooks, crochet hooks meant for wire that have a pad on them. All the crochet hooks do have some commonality to them. You'll have the head of the hook and you'll have the neck of the hook right here. You'll have the shank of the hook and then on some hooks you'll have a thumb pad where you can put your thumb while you are crocheting. This is a new kind that makes it more comfortable, thumb pad there and crochet hooks also come in different sizes just like knitting needles and different manufacturers will have slight variances in the same size. So you could have an H crochet hook or 5 millimeter crochet hook in one manufacturer and another hook with the same units of measurement on it and they can be slightly different in how they create your crocheted work."
