"A picot edge is a really nice edge that you can give to your knitting both from the cast on edge and from picked up stitches on a bound off edge. So normally from a cast on edge you'd have say four rows of stock and net. And you need to have a multiple of two plus one to make this work. So when you get to your picot row, you're going to knit your first stitch. Then you're going to do a yarn over and knit two together. And you're going to repeat that across the row. So I'm going to yarn over, knit two together, yarn over, knit two together. I'm going to do this across the row. And then after that you would continue on in stock and net. So what happens after you've worked up from that you fold this over. And you get this great cute little picot edge here like that. And you would just sew it closed when you were done as part of your finishing. If this were to be picked up and knit, you would pick up the stitches you would knit to your picot. And then you'd have to knit enough stitches to be able to knit back to create and edging where you could anchor it as well into your garment."
