Summary: Pro Tools TDM users add delay to audio tracks to emphasize peaks. Add delay to sync up audio tracks using the TDM options of Digidesign Pro Tools with the tips in this free video on music recording software from a professional musician.
"In every track you're able to delay the track as far as audio tracks go, and tracks like that. When you have your audio on your screen, sometimes you might want to set it back like a couple samples, or things like that. This definitely helps put things in the pocket, and just a little bit off so that it sounds more realistic. Now, to do this you can hold down different keys. If you hold down the apple key, and press on the volume, it's going to bring separate things like peaks and delays and things like that. This delay button is definitely helpful. What you can do is you can take this delay and change the delay. You can change how much, how many samples that this track is being delayed. And you can do that for every single track. Every track has its own little delay thing, and what you can do is you can change it because it's going to help set things in a pocket. Everything you record is going to have some type of delay on it. Even though it's a really small delay, it's going to be from the time it takes to get from the mic to your computer is going to be just a little bit off, but it doesn't matter because everything is off. So, everything is going to be recorded the same, so it doesn't sound off to you, but it's just a little bit. You could always fix these with this little delay thing."
