"This other type of litter is a crystal litter. Not too many people use it on a regular basis. It's great for cats who are not liking the litter box for one reason or another because the urine actually soaks in to the crystals. You can tell when it's used because the white crystals, clear crystals are discolored yellow like the urine. I've had good success with this with cats who won't use any other kind of litter. And finally, there's this sort of pelleted litter which is actually compressed newspaper. And some cats like this. We also use this cats are having wounds on their paws or any other place where we don't want the litter to get in. So this is an alternative that you might want to try also. So in order to do a litter box trial with your cat, what you would do is pick several different types of litter and get several different boxes. And you want the box to be big enough like this. This is great because they can't kick the litter out of the sides so much and they can get it. If you have a small cat, this is fine size. If you have a large cat, you may want to use a bigger box. Something that's this big. It may have shallower sides, that's okay. But you want something big enough for the cat to turn around in. So get several boxes and put different kind of litter in each of the boxes and see which litter your cat seems to use the most. And that will give you an idea which one your cat prefers and you can go forward with that one."
