"If you are learning to spin Poi because you want to do it with fire, congratulations. It's a very fun and exciting honor to be able to dance with fire in such an intimate and beautiful way. However there are a few things that you need to know, before you even consider spinning your Poi with fire. One, is you need to be able to spin your Poi at least ten minutes without hitting yourself, before you should even consider lighting them on fire. Number two, is you should have a person with you who knows what you're doing and who can act as a fire safety person. And number three, you should have a full reverence and respect for fire and for what it can do in both its beauty and in how it can harm you. It can be a very, very fun and exciting thing but, you must use caution and be respectful of how you're using it. You may want to start shopping for a pair of fire-Poi, in which case you would be looking for a Poi with Kevlar wicks, which preferably don't have metal hardware sticking out of them. Such as bolts that are coming out at the end. You want as little metal on the outside of the Kevlar as possible. And there's a lot of resources on the internet and online for good fire-Poi that you can start thinking about using. And in the meantime keep practicing on your own."
