"It's a common image in our culture to think about the crazy clock collector. The guy that's got clocks floor to ceiling everywhere and every hour they go bong, bong, bong and drive everybody crazy. But I try not to be like that and certainly most collectors aren't like that either. You truly can have these clocks, these valuable antiques around your house in a way that's pleasant to look at and doesn't make it look like you're some kind of out of control collector. You can see along here on the mantle I have obviously more than one mantle clock. But not stacked floor to ceiling. Just ones that are interesting to look at and show off the ones that I feel ought to be seen in my home at eye level. As I go around the room here's my banjo clock, one of my nicest clocks that I own. An early 1830's piece that banjo clocks really were specifically designed for this type of setting. A pier. A narrow tall wall between a window and a door or between two windows. So perfect place for a banjo clock. Again looks like it belongs there. Adds to the decor. Another place for a floor standing clock. Looks like it's been there forever. It's part of the family. It talks. It strikes. It adds to us. The only thing I would say in this case is the don't where I have a tall case clock here ready to go to a customer's. I had no other place to put it. Normally that doesn't stand there nor would I want to cook it with the radiator behind it. And on my piano top I have clocks that I like to look at. I still can sit here and play the piano. Maybe somebody else's family would have photos up there. I choose to have interesting looking clocks. And finally our Howard 70. We saw this when we were talking about Howard clocks. Perfectly positioned, I'd say, on a wall by itself in a view that you have from other rooms in the house and as guests come and visit my shop. So you can see that clocks can become part of your decor without you looking like you're an out of control collector."
