"The first step of playing a spell or ability is the announcement. This is simply when you say, I'm casting. And then you name your speller ability. Or you say, I'm activating the ability involved. At this point, you have to show what spell you're intending to cast. In this case, it's Trickery Charm. Trickery Charm is the name of the spell. And at this point, you need to reveal the card and you move it from your hand to the stack. The stack is where the spells are and abilities are kept while they're busy resolving. Another good example is the point at which you reveal a morph creature. When Void Major Prentice is turned face up. For it's Morph cost of two colorless and two blue. It puts a triggered ability on the stack. Which says, when Void Major Prentice is turned face up, counter target spell. The fact that you're turning it face up, means that you need to reveal. Where the ability is coming from."
