"In addition to the Waltham Clock Company that we'll talk about later, but you saw a big example of their long case clock in our last clip, the other big Connecticut companies also made standing floor clocks. You'll see, again, another Tran Duy Ly book, which compiles early catalogs from those companies, showing you the many varieties of long case clocks that were made by Seth Thomas, by Gilbert, by Waterbury, again, all the big companies. They weren't of the same quality as some of the Waltham or some of the English ones we talked about. You could buy a tall case clock relatively inexpensively if you wanted to recreate that colonial revival feeling, and you, but you didn't want an antique clock 'cause either you can't afford one, or you weren't confident with how well it was going to keep time. I've also got a movement here. This happens to be the Waltham movement from the clock that we looked at in the last set. And this is certainly heavier and more massive than what you'd find in some of the Seth Thomas or Waterbury versions, but it shows you what's happening inside with the....and weights powering, in this case, a triple...triple train movement, which did those chimes every fifteen minutes as well. So, if you want to buy a grandfather clock from the late eighteen hundreds into the nineteen twenties, you could have one of those massive ones that we looked at, or you could have some very attractive floor-standing ones by the big Connecticut companies as well."
