"Hey, this is Jeff from the Two Wheeler Dealer. And I'm going to explain how to pedal a bicycle. First off if you're new to the bicycle, I definitely recommend riding in maybe a grassy field or soft area. And using all the proper safety gear. Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads. To start I get a good rolling coast without pedaling. Just find your good center of balance on the bike. Possibly down a, you know, shallow sloping hill. Once you get comfortable and balanced on the bike, then put your feet on the pedals and begin apply pressure. Basically one at a time. Just going to apply pressure from about two-o-clock to about the six-o-clock position. Just alternating back and forth. The smoother the pedal stroke, the more efficient you're going to be. If you run into an obstacle such as a hill or a curb you need to hop up, the best way to put down extra power into the pedals would be to stand up off of the saddle. And basically you use the weight of your body to help force those pedals down. Best to pace yourself, especially when out of the saddle climbing. You will expend much more energy and tire much more quickly than just sitting in the saddle and spinning at a nice even constant rate. And that's how to pedal a bicycle."
