"Are you worried about how to keep those high sugar and high salty foods out of your child's diet? Hi, my name is Erin Sheppard with Austin Baby. I'm going to talk about how to have healthy snacks with your child. It's really easy to get into the packaged snack routine but it's also very easy to kick that habit and provide your child with some fun healthy snacks. One way to make it really fun and easy is instead of just feeding your child a bag of snacks or a big plate of snacks is to have a fun presentation. Most children like to have small portions and they like either small cups or very small bowls but it makes them feel important, and it's really fun. You think about even adults at like to have party foods in small in small portion. A child really enjoys this activity as well. Here we have some trail mix which is going to be a good source of protein. Make sure you check with your child, your health care provider about nuts but if you can't have nuts, soy nuts are another good source of protein that are really crunchy and very healthy. And if your child has a sweet tooth this is where you can please him with a surprise of sugar, it's not going to be in very large quantities but you can add some chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. Something that just gives a little kick of sugar, enough to make your, your child really excited and not so much that it, it throws his whole caloric intake off. Then we also have some cheddar cheese which every child typically loves. And then we have some fresh avocado and your child will love fishing these out with tongs or a fork, it can, it can really be a fun activity especially for the pickier eater. And then we have some fresh strawberries and a big plate of grapes, if you have a group that's really great to share those. And then water is always a great drink to have at snacks because it's really important for those children to stay hydrated. However if you're health care provider feels that your child needs extra protein and extra caloric intake then yogurts drink or milk or a high protein soy or a nut milk is a good option to have here. So you can see what this really fun presentation and very colorful and really fun snack that it's, it's quite easy to have fresh foods, healthy foods and in general having a great healthy snack with your child. Thank you very much; I'm Erin Sheppard with Austin Baby."
