"Hi, I'm Les Whitley, today I'd like to talk to you about designing a free weight program. With goals in mind whether it's increasing your lean muscle mass or losing your body fat or just getting an overall body shape, it's always important to keep those insight as you begin developing your programs, knowing where you are and where you want to, where you want to be. Beginning a free weight program, it's always important to consult a professional to make sure you're doing the exercises properly. Focus on large muscle groups working your way down to smaller muscle groups as you transition through your program. A larger muscle groups are going to not only give you more response from the time you put into it, but they're also going to burn more calories which overall is going to give you a better conditioning effect. Beginning muscles of the lower body such as the hips and thighs in an exercise such as the squat, progressing through pressing motion and pulling motion so that you're incorporating opposing muscle groups as you train. Making sure you have good stability, a good balance through all the ranges of motion is important to keep you safe and progressing through your program. Opposing muscle groups such as your push-pull, upper body, lower body, left and right muscles, for good balance and overall structural support will keep you moving forward, again, injury free. Beginning a program, start off slowly. With your limitations in mind, know what you're capable of doing and where your comfort levels lie. Push through this and again, consult a professional when you feel as there's any question in mind. The whole goal with developing a good program is to make sure that you're progressing appropriately without getting injured and continuing to see the results. Most people become discourage when the results either don't come too quickly or they get injured. So have patience, start your program off right, keep your goals in mind and be able to put forth the effort so you achieve what you like to."
