"Hi I'm Les Whitely. I'm going to demonstrate how to do a military push up. The emphasis in this is maintaining a good rigid body line position. Not allowing the hips to sag down or hips to come up in the air for the rest position. Really working on strengthening the muscles of the arm as well as the overall upper chest, and then keeping a good straight core as well. To begin this exercise lower yourself down to the ground, hands slightly wider then shoulder's width, shoulders directly over my hands, hands not out in front or behind. Good straight body line position, eyes focused in a neutral gaze, spine nice and tight, core nice and tight, lower yourself down under control, chest barely touches, back to full start position. Under control, and back up. Starting out by beginning with one repetition, gradually building to five, upwards to ten, then get to the old drop and give me twenty. It takes time, it takes patience, but by having good technique you can develop a proper push up such as the military push up."
