"Hi I'm Les Whitley. I'd like to talk to you about how to design a workout program. In the beginning the first and most important thing is to establish the goals that you would like to achieve whether it is getting stronger, developing more muscle tissue or to become more lean and lose body fat. You've got to have those goals in order to set the priorities as you begin to achieve. Establishing that good level base routine to reach those goals is important in maintaining not only the frequency but the consistency of the efforts that you are putting forward. For example gaining strength takes time. It requires constant effort on your part not only of what you do in the gym to build and break down that muscle tissue but also how you replenish and recover by the foods that you take in. Know what your goals are, know the steps that it takes to achieve those goals and be smart about establishing them. A regular pattern on an ongoing basis will put you much closer to achieving those goals. For example losing body fat requires you modifying not only your intake but also your output to achieve those goals. Be smart about setting and designing your program. Focus on the priorities. For example working large muscle groups of the body will expend more calories in specific isolation. So understand those goals of what it takes to reach them, consult the help of a professional in order to get you on the right track to avoid you spinning your wheels in taking longer to reach those goals. At the end of the day be patient, be consistent, work hard and be smart."
