"Hi I'm Les Whitley. Today I'd like to talk to you a little bit about building the pec muscles or the muscles of the chest. It's always great when you are doing an exercise to have the assistance of a spotter or professional coach that can help you out and give you the best technique advise. But when you are training alone make sure that you have the opportunity to be supported by the best of safety equipment and or someone close by that you can call in case of an emergency. One of the best overall effective exercises among many is the bar bell bench press. Simple set up with this is a nice bench that provides adequate padding and good support, the bar and the weight that is appropriate for your strength levels. Begin by establishing a good base with your feet, your feet should remain in contact with the ground at all times to give you that good stable environment. Next hands slightly wider then shoulder width, even on the bar unrack the bar under good control. Have a good tight stable base with a slight arch in your back but still maintaining contact. Lift the bar off under control, lower the bar to the lower aspect of the chest, under control, slight touch and extend up. Elbows should remain near the side to the full range of motion up to full extension. Rack the bar under control with complete the full range of motion utilizing good constant tension the entire way through."
