"When you're out on the golf course, and you need to hit a shot low, through trees, or to cut it underneath the wind, the best shot to play is a punch shot. I'm Jared Garbett, from Echo Farms Country Club, and I'm going to teach you how to hit a punch shot. In order to hit a punch shot, your goal is to get it beneath some trees, or to keep it below the wind, when the wind is really bad. You're going to play the ball back in your stance. Instead of playing it in the middle of your stance near your belt buckle, you're going to move back, just in front of your right foot. You're going to setup, just as you normally would. You're going to take the club back shorter. You don't want to make a full swing with a punch shot. You just want to take the club back, about three quarters of the way, and then you're going to follow through, hitting mostly ground, and following through, in an abbreviated manor. You never want to take a complete full back swing,or a complete full follow through, with a punch shot. Everything in a punch shot is abbreviated, so I'm going to set up to the ball. The ball in the back of my stance, short back swing, short follow through. I think that one got below the wind. That's how you hit a punch shot in golf."
