"Hi I'm Tim Gipson I'm going to talk to you about how to select flooring. Now when you look at selecting flooring, there's several areas of consideration you need to look at. First would be your budget, the second would be the type of room that you are going into. And the third would be your traffic patterns or what type of living area it is and the durability of the floor you are going to need. And so it really starts with your budget. And you got to look at how much you want to spend for your particular flooring and for living areas you can have anything that's from a carpet to a composite floor to a hardwood floor. Now your carpet is going to be your most cost effective means to go. Where you get into your hardwood floors are going to be your higher costs per square foot. And then in your areas such as bathrooms you can have a basic linoleum which would be your lower costs to your higher cost of a tile. Now if you take this room for instance we have a hardwood floor in here and this is on a slab. And this is what we call a floating floor. This is actually wood boards that snap together and they lay over top of a foam vapor barrier. The vapor barrier provides a moisture barrier between the concrete and the wood flooring and also provides a little bit of a cushion. Now the one good thing about using a floating flooring like this, is that it's a little less labor intensive and to install and down the road if you want to change it it's a lot easier to pull this up and to change it versus if you had a glued down application. Then, so once you determine what your budget is and what type of area you are going to do then what you want to do is go to your home improvement stores and you could look at selected, their selections of flooring, they will have your carpet, they will have your tile. They will have linoleum and they will have your hardwoods, so you can determine what finishes you'd like to look at, what kind of look you are trying to create in your home. Now some, as far as selecting wood floors you may want to also considering direct outlets as far as when you get to the point of purchasing that flooring. These are warehouse types of setups that provide you more of a wholesale type of price. So again when looking at selecting your hardwood floor you got to look at your budget, the type of flooring and the type of room that you got to do and then make your considerations based on that. So I'm Tim Gipson and that's some tips on how to select flooring."
