"Alright, I'm Tim Gipson, I'm going to show you how to open a paint can. Now the preferable way to do this is when you buy your paint they have these openers that they will actually give you at any hardware store or home improvement store when you buy your paint. It's got a special curved tip which allows you to get up underneath the lip of the pain can and to pry up on it. Now when we're opening a paint can one thing we want to do is we want to lift and we want to open the paint can a little bit at a time. You don't want to put too much pressure on one point on this paint can because otherwise it'll deform the lip. You'll actually start unrolling it. It'll make it much more difficult down the road as you close and open your paint can. So what we're going to do is just use a little rocking motion and just slowly work our way around, rotating the can until the top comes off. Now if you don't happen to not have one of these openers, now you can use a screw driver. But you gotta be really careful with a screw driver because it being very thin and putting it up in there it makes it very easy to deform that lip. And again, that's going to cause you some problems. What I prefer to use is use a heavy duty scrapper like this and then again it doesn't take a lot of pressure at a time to open a paint can. But you can take the scrapper and you can simply rock it, and again you just gotta work it up a little bit as you go around. But the scrapper allows you to put a lot broader piece of metal up against the lip to keep you from deforming that. So again, as we work around, it's very easy to get the paint can up, paint can top open. So I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to open a can of paint."
