"Hi, this is Laura Turner, today we're going to talk about how to become a comedy writer. The first thing that you want to establish is, for yourself, is to discover what you think is really funny. And then of course develop your unique voice-based on this. And also think about what is funny with the world in which you live and your unique experience as a person. I wouldn't take the time to write down all the things that you think are funny about your life; as you should actually take those and make those into your comedy writing, whether you're going to be writing for the stage or you're going to be writing comedy fiction, things like this; just figure out what is funny about your world. Next you're going to want to create complex characters you can use over and over again in your sketch or comedy skit writing. You're going to want to take these people from your life or from your head or things that you think are funny and you're going to want to develop and make them so many you can really write on; so that you don't have to constantly go back and create more and more characters and you just have a stack pile of people you can pull from, their funny. And then finally you want to showcase your writing with actors or by reading it yourself and seeing if the audience thinks that you're funny; so good luck."
