"Hi, I'm Dr. Aimee Beger. I'm a veterinarian. And today, we're going to be talking about care of your pregnant dog. Dogs typically come into heat some time between six and twelve months of age, and if you're going to be breeding your dog you typically want to wait till' they're at least a year and a half to two years of age. When your veterinarian determines that they are pregnant the best way to care for them is to, of course, keep them inside in a nice clean environment, to make sure that your dog is on a very high quality dog food. In the last two to three weeks of pregnancy you may want to consider increasing the amount of food that you're feeding your dog to one and a half times its normal amount. Puppy food is also something that you can add to your dog's regular diet to ensure that she is getting enough calories to promote the fetal growth and development of her puppies."
