"Hi, I'm Dr. Aimee Beger, and I work at McClintock Animal Care Center, in Tempe, Arizona, and today, we're going to be going over a variety of topics related to pet health and pet care. And we're going to talk a little bit today about treating your dog's constipation. There are some brands out there that are a little bit more well balanced than others. I would just go to your veterinarian, and and/or pet store and ask for a good quality food which is well balanced. Constipation in dogs can result from a variety of things; from water deprivation or their decreased water intake to medical problems, such as back arthritis, hip dysplasia, even kidney disease. To treat constipation you first want to determine what the cause of the constipation is, and that's best done by your veterinarian. And once you determine the cause there are certain supplements or treatments that may be required to help your dog, such as stool softeners, a high fiber diet, even trying some canned pumpkin or Metamucil onto your dog's food."
