"Hi, I'm Aimee Beger. I'm a veterinarian, and today, we're going to be talking about how to choose a good balanced food for your dog. What we recommend is to have your dog as a puppy start out on a puppy food. There are some brands out there that are a little bit more well balanced than others. I would just go to your veterinarian and, and/or pet store and ask for a good quality food which is well balanced. At about a year of age you'll want to transition your dog slowly over a two week period of time onto an adult formula. The type of food that we recommend here is a dry food, because the kibble actually has mechanical abrasion on the teeth; therefore helping tartar prevention, and we do prevent, or we do prefer dry food over canned food because the canned food if that is felt, fed as a sole diet that can cause early tartar build-up on your pet's teeth."
